I am back.
It has been too long since I last updated my previous website.
I am back again to keep you up to date with where I am and what I am doing as I finish up my Northern Hemisphere Winter here in Winter Park, Colorado and head back south to start a new journey of back to back Winters after having a break after the Paralympics last March.
This time last year I was in Vancouver, Canada up in the mountains in Whistler competing at the Winter Paralympics. In fact we had just got done with the opening ceremony on the 13th of March New Zealand time. Earlier on this day I was training to peak for my best event Slalom which was scheduled to be at the end of the week.
This is when things got interesting. At about this time last year on the 14th New Zealand time during our evening team meeting in the Olympic village I was to find out that Down Hill was to be re scheduled and I would be racing slalom tomorrow..
My thoughts “Alright let’s get it over and done with”.
As I write this post it is crazy to think that it was this time last year where I was standing on top of the podium being awarded with a Paralympic gold medal with the New Zealand flag being raised to the National anthem. In front of all my family and friends and all those entire kiwis who came together in Whistler. It was such an amazing feeling. I still to this day get all goosebumps up just thinking back to those fine moments.
I just want to finish off by saying my thoughts are with all my family, friends and also Japanese friends who have been affected by quakes both back in Christchurch and in Japan. Kia Kaha everyone stay strong.
